The film is the sequel to 2006's Borat. It is scheduled to be released on October 23, 2020, on Amazon Prime Video. [1] Premise [ edit] Fourteen years after release of Borat, Borat Sagdiyev returns to the USA from Kazakhstan and this time he reveals more about the American culture, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the political elections. [2] Cast [ edit] Sacha Baron Cohen as Borat Sagdiyev, a Kazakhstani news reporter who has achieved international fame and notoriety after the events of the first film Irina Nowak as Sandra Jessica Parker Sagdiyev, Borat's daughter. Production [ edit] Development [ edit] Rupert Murdoch announced in early February 2007 that Baron Cohen had signed on to do another Borat film with 20th Century Fox, distributor of the first film. [4] Baron Cohen later claimed that Borat was to be discontinued, as he was now too well known to avoid detection as he did in the film and on Da Ali G Show. [5] A spokesman for Fox later stated that it was too early to begin planning such a film, although they were open to the idea. [6] In 2014, he brought back Borat for the FXX series Ali G: Rezurection, a compilation of the sketches from Da Ali G Show with new footage. [7] He also briefly appeared as Borat in December 2015 on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the film Grimsby [8] and again in November 2018 to encourage Americans to vote in that year's midterm elections. [9] Filming [ edit] An early prank filmed in late 2019 involved a farcical interview with Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. [10] In February 2020, Baron Cohen was spotted dressed up as Trump, interrupting the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), although his true identity was not revealed at the time. [11] [12] That same month, Baron Cohen traveled to Macon, Georgia to trick attendees of a fake cotillion. [13] In early July 2020, Baron Cohen arranged a fake interview with Rudy Giuliani, only to burst in during the conversation wearing a pink bikini; Giuliani called the police. [14] A few weeks later, he was spotted performing pranks at a gun rally in Olympia, Washington, [15] leading attendees to sing along with racist lyrics to an original song, [16] and interviewing members of the crowd. [17] The following month, he was spotted in Los Angeles dressed as Borat and filming, leading to speculation from the public that Baron Cohen's next project was a Borat sequel. [18] On two days of filming Baron Cohen was required to wear a bulletproof vest due to the possible threats of the scene. [19] In early September 2020, rumors began to circulate claiming that the film was completely shot, assembled, and screened for movie industry executives; [20] the title was originally leaked as Borat 2: Great Success and then Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan. Borat is back, with this subsequent moviefilm. This will be compared to the original to no end, but with borat being a cultural icon in America, this one was bound to be very different. I loved this film, it made me topple with laughter multiple times. The accomplishment of making this within a pandemic is also a massive achievement. Do I think this is better then the first one? No. Do I think this is a hilarious movie? Absolutely. This one seems a lot more planned narratively and has a lot more scripted scenes, not bad things at all. The girl playing borat's daughter was also great. Very nice!

Now, he's back in the first Borat 2 trailer, teasing the premiere of a sequel film on Amazon Prime Video later this month. But can he handle all that 2020 has to throw at him? The first Borat, officially titled Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, saw Cohen's titular persona arriving in the United States to make a documentary about why the country is so great. Along the way, he punks real people into believing he's an actual Kazakhstan reporter and offends pretty much everyone along the way. Now, in what's being called Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, Borat returns to America with his daughter to marry her off to someone "close to the throne" of the Oval Office. Cohen quietly developed a sequel to the comedy during COVID-19 lockdowns, as you can gather by the fact Borat that is fighting "the virus" not just with Lysol but hitting coronavirus with pots and pans. (The actor has stayed busy during the pandemic: Cohen appeared at a conservative rally in June and tried to get everyone to sing along to a racist song, and Rudy Giuliani claimed he got pranked into participating in a fake interview with him in July. ) The trailer also shows Cohen appearing as Borat at a conservative convention dressed as Trump with the actress playing his daughter slung over his shoulder. "Michael Penis, I brought the girl for you! " he shouts in the crowd. After the first presidential shouting match debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Cohen recorded a mocking congratulatory video as Borat. "Donald Trump. Strongest premier in history, " he says in character. Showing footage of athletes kneeling during the National Anthem at football games, Borat adds, "He not racist. Black guys love him so much they kneel before him. The lampooning continued as footage of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein emerged on screen and Borat says, "He protector of women.
